A NATO E-3A AWACS Boeing 707 plane- the biggest military aircraft registered in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg- bearing registration LX-N- pictured performing late evening fly-in and touch-and-go flight procedures at Luxembourg's airport Findel as part of routine training operations. Touching the runway with its maximum take-off weight of 147,429 kg / 325,000 lbs within seconds in a cloud of dust while the aircraft sinks into its shock absorbers, the pilot preparing to power quickly the noisy and not so ecological four TF-33 Pratt & Whitney 100A turbofan engines to take-off a few hundred meters further. Registration LX-N, a wingspan of 44.45 m / 145 ft 9 in, length: 46.68 m / 152 ft 11 in and height of 12.70 m / 41 ft 9 the AWACS silhouette is marked by the Radar Rotodome of 9.1 m / 30 ft of diameter providing amazing radar coverage of 312,000 km in its field of view flying at an operational altitude of 9,150 m / 30,000 ft at more than 800 km / 500 miles per hour.
